What this site is
Toss & Turf compiles published manufacturer specifications and governing-body rules for backyard games, computes the footprints, and organizes everything by space and crowd rather than by product category. There are 61 pages here, 33 products with sourced specs, and 224 individual figures that each name where they came from.
The reason for that structure is simple. A host planning a gathering is not asking whether cornhole is fun. They are asking whether it fits between the deck and the fence, and whether the twelve people coming on Saturday can all get a turn. Almost nobody publishes the numbers that answer those questions, so we compiled them.
Who writes it
Sawyer V. — an enthusiast who's genuinely into this. I read the manuals, compile the published specs, and do the math. No lab coat, no test lab, and no pile of gear in the garage I'm pretending to have played with. What I can tell you is exactly how much yard each of these needs, how many people it takes, and what the manufacturer actually says — sourced, cited, and checkable.
What we do not do
We have not tested these games in any sense that would survive scrutiny, and we will not say otherwise. Several sites in this category claim to have personally tested every set they recommend. Those claims are the most falsifiable content on their pages, and imitating them would be the fastest way to lose this site.
So, plainly:
- No hands-on testing, no owned units, no test lab.
- No customer reviews and no star ratings — we host none and have none.
- No professional credentials, because we hold none relevant to yard games.
- No awards, and no claims about how long we have been doing this.
What we have instead is a method that any reader can reproduce: how we pick sets it out step by step, including what would make us change a recommendation.
Where the numbers come from
Every footprint, player count, age floor and material on this site is copied from a published source and named inline. The governing bodies we cite by name:
