Sourcing

Every factual claim on this site traces to a published source, named on the page. There are exactly two acceptable kinds:

1. A sport's governing body, for rules, court dimensions and equipment regulations.
2. A manufacturer's own published listing, for materials, weights, dimensions, included contents and warranty terms.

Retailer summaries, other review sites and marketplace listings written by third parties are not sources. Where a figure is derived — computed from published inputs rather than stated outright — the page says so and shows the derivation.

Unpublished figures stay unpublished

If a manufacturer does not publish a weight, an age floor or a dimension, our spec block shows an em dash and the note “not published by the manufacturer”. We do not estimate, round, infer from a photograph, or copy a number from a competitor's article.

This is not fussiness. An invented number is indistinguishable from a real one once it is typeset, and a reader planning a yard around it has no way to tell.

The no-testing rule, stated publicly

We do not test products, and no page on this site will ever claim we did. That means no “in our testing”, no “we spent three months with these”, no “units owned”, no test-lab imagery and no invented credentials.

It also means no star ratings on products, no customer reviews, no testimonials and no aggregate rating markup anywhere in our structured data. We host no reviews and we have none; publishing any would be fabrication. Our visible scores are a published-spec rubric, they are labeled as such on every card, and they are deliberately excluded from the machine-readable data for the same reason.

What replaces testing is on how we pick.

Price accuracy

• Prices come from a live data layer refreshed daily, and are stamped with the date checked.
• A price older than 48 hours is removed automatically and the button falls back to “check price”.
• We never hardcode a price into an article.
• Where no live price exists, we say so rather than showing a figure from a previous check.

Commission never influences a pick

This site earns commission on qualifying purchases through its links. The ranking rule published on how we pick contains no commission term, and the order of picks on a page is not adjusted for what pays more.

Where a retailer we do not earn from is genuinely the better place to buy, we say so and link it anyway. Full detail on the affiliate disclosure page.

Update cadence

• Prices: daily.
• Availability: daily. A pick that goes out of stock is replaced, not left up.
• Specifications: re-checked against the source when a page is edited, and whenever a reader flags one.
• Rules and governing-body figures: re-checked on the page's next substantive edit.

The “last updated” date on a page reflects a real editorial change. It does not move when the daily price refresh runs. A site that claims every page changed every day is telling you nothing.

Corrections

Email info@tossandturf.com or use the contact form. Tell us the page and the figure, and the source you think is right.

1. We check the claim against its cited source.
2. If the page is wrong, we correct it and update the last-updated date.
3. If the correction changes a recommendation — a spec revision that moves a top pick, say — we note the change on the page rather than editing silently.
4. If the source itself has changed, we cite the new one and note that the earlier figure was accurate when published.

Safety content

Where a regulator has acted, we cite it directly and we do not soften it. The clearest example on this site: pointed lawn darts have been banned from sale in the United States since December 19, 1988 under 16 CFR Part 1306. We do not link them, we do not recommend inherited sets, and we say why.

Age floors are only ever the manufacturer's own published figure. We will not invent one, and we say when none exists.

Authorship

Editorial pages carry a byline, a published date and a last-updated date. The author is Sawyer V., positioned honestly as an enthusiast — no credentials are claimed, because none relevant to yard games are held.

No page on this site is written to imply a larger organization than exists, and no “expert panel” is referenced, because there is not one.
