You do not need a built court. Bocce on an unprepared lawn is the normal case, and the federation's dimensions matter mostly as a reference for how much room to leave. What a real court buys you is a consistent roll — on grass, the lie is part of the read, which most people consider a feature.

Thermo-set composition resin — St. Pierre's material, and the one on a set named an official ball of the United States Bocce Federation. Harder, and it scars less on gravel.
