A bocce frame can stop halfway while somebody gets a drink and resume five minutes later, and nothing is lost. A kubb game is a continuous board state — teams are rebuilding each other's kubbs, position matters, and walking away mid-game ends it.

At a cookout where people drift, that difference is decisive and it favors bocce. At a gathering where people commit to an activity, kubb is far more engaging.

2. Bocce is weatherproof; kubb is not

Solid resin balls do not care about rain, dew or being left on the lawn overnight. Hardwood kubb blocks do — they gray, swell and eventually split.
