Pickleball is the rare backyard game with a genuinely tight published specification, and a portable net is the one component expected to hit it. USA Pickleball fixes the court at 20 by 44 feet and the net at 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 at the center — a deliberate two-inch dip.
The spec sheet
Four nets against the rulebook
| Width | Height published | Wheels | Tension control | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Champion Sports | 22 ft | 36 in | No | Not published |
| BAGAIL | 22 ft or 11 ft half court | Not published | Yes | Not published |
| Franklin Sports | 22 ft regulation | Not published | Yes | Not published |
| A11N Sports Pro | Stated regulation, not numbered | Not published | Yes | Hand winch, anti-sag |
| USA Pickleball requires | 20 ft court | 36 in sidelines, 34 in center | n/a | n/a |
One row in that table does the work. Champion Sports is the only net here that publishes both its width and its height, which makes it the only one you can check against the rulebook before it arrives rather than with a tape measure afterwards.
The picks
What each one is for
Champion Sports — the one you can verify
22 feet by 36 inches, published, with a carry bag rather than wheels. If you want a regulation court and the confidence that it is one, start here.
BAGAIL — for a driveway that is not 44 feet long
It builds to 22 feet or to an 11-foot half court. No governing body recognizes a half court, but plenty of driveways do not recognize 44 feet either, and a half court is a real practice game rather than no game.
Franklin Sports — roll it out, roll it back
Regulation width on wheels from a maker already on this site. It does not publish its net height, which is the gap between it and the Champion.
A11N Sports Pro — for a net that lives outside
A hand winch and an anti-sag frame exist for exactly one reason: a net left up will droop below 34 inches at the center, and this is the only one here that lets you pull it back.
Two minutes with a tape
Checking a net you already own
Most portable nets drift out of specification rather than arriving wrong, and the check takes two minutes.
- Measure at the center, not the posts. The rule is 34 inches in the middle and 36 at the sidelines. The middle is where a portable net fails.
- Measure both sidelines. Uneven ground under one post is the usual cause of a net that plays differently depending on which end you are standing at.
- Check the span. 22 feet covers the 20-foot court plus posts. A net noticeably narrower than the court means balls pass outside the posts, which no rule contemplates.
If the center is low and there is no adjustment, a center strap is the standard fix and is why tournament-grade frames include one. If the whole net is short, the frame is the problem rather than the tension, which is where the main pickleball page and the sets in pickleball sets for a driveway are worth revisiting. Every net height on the site is collected in backyard net heights.

Skip this if
Skip this if you want to wheel it out rather than carry it. This is the carry-bag design, not the wheeled frame, which is a real difference on a 22-foot net.
What works
- Publishes width and height, which is the minimum needed to confirm a regulation court
- Carry bag rather than a wheeled frame keeps the pack-down small for a driveway court
What does not
- No published frame material or weight
- No wheels, so it is carried rather than rolled into position

Skip this if
Skip this if only the full game will do. A half court is a practice format, not the doubles game the rulebook describes.
What works
- Two published widths, which is the only set here that admits not every driveway is 44 feet long
- Ball collector and bag included, so the set arrives complete
What does not
- No published net height on a net whose centre height is the fussiest rule in the sport
- Half-court mode is not a format any governing body recognises

Regulation width on wheels, from the maker whose flag football and badminton sets are already on this site — the version you move rather than carry.
Skip this if
Skip this if the net lives in a shed up three steps. Wheels solve moving a net across a flat driveway and solve nothing at all about lifting it.
What works
- Wheels make a 22 ft net a one-person job on a flat surface
- Regulation width is published rather than implied
What does not
- Does not publish its own net height, so the 36 in sideline figure cannot be confirmed
- No published weight, which is the number that decides whether wheels are enough

A hand winch and an anti-sag design address the one thing that ruins a portable pickleball net: the centre drooping below the 34 inches the rulebook fixes it at.
Skip this if
Skip this if it is going up and down every session. A winch-tensioned tournament frame is built to stay put, and that is the opposite of a set you pack away each evening.
What works
- A winch is the only mechanism here that lets you retension a net that has sagged
- Anti-sag is aimed squarely at the 34 in centre-height rule
What does not
- Publishes 'regulation size' without publishing the size
- Heaviest design of the four, and the weight is not published

FAQ
Questions people actually ask
What size is a regulation pickleball net?
Why do portable pickleball nets sag?

Why you can check our work
We have not played these. Every figure above is copied from a manufacturer's published listing or a governing body's published rules, and named so you can verify it. Where a maker publishes nothing, the field is blank rather than filled in. How we pick explains the whole method, including what would change a recommendation.
