Spikeball did for roundnet what Frisbee did for the flying disc: the brand name became the name of the game. The game is roundnet — two against two, a small circular net at ankle height, three touches a side, no boundaries — and other makers now sell sets for it.
The alternatives are interesting less for being cheaper than for being different. One maker sells three distinct versions of the game, and each one solves a problem the standard set does not.

The Pro is the like-for-like alternative. A published 36-inch regulation low-profile rim is the same size as the 3-foot net Spikeball publishes for its standard kit, and the set adds a third ball, reinforced legs and rubber feet.
The Rally and Hardcourt change the game. A perimeter net around the rim stops the low, flat shots that end beginner rallies in two touches. It makes roundnet much easier to learn — and it removes shots the standard game relies on. The Hardcourt version is built for concrete, which almost no other roundnet set publishes.
