Mini cornhole sets

Regulation cornhole is a 48 by 24 inch board pitched from 27 feet. A tabletop set is about a fifth as long and thrown with a flick of the wrist. Both are fun; only one of them is cornhole.

Verdict: buy the tabletop set that publishes 10.12 by 5.71 inch wooden boards with eight bags. It is the only mini cornhole here that states a board dimension and a full bag count, which is the difference between a game and an ornament. The 4.7 inch AIWEILUCK set is the sub-ten-dollar stocking option. Skip all of them if your actual problem is a small yard — that is a tailgate-size purchase, not a mini one.

Cornhole is the game this site's readers buy most, and the tabletop tier is where the gift-season searches go. The thing to avoid is buying a desk game when you wanted a yard game, so the boundary is drawn explicitly below.

Do not confuse these

Four tiers, and which problem each one solves

Regulation and tailgate figures from the American Cornhole League. Mini figures from each listing; blank means unpublished.
TierBoard sizeHow it is thrownThe problem it solves
ACL regulation48 x 24 in, pitched 27 ftStanding, underhand pitchYou want to play cornhole properly
Tailgate36 x 24 in, shortened pitchStanding, underhand pitchYour longest clear run is under 30 ft
Tabletop (larger)About 10.12 x 5.71 inSeated, wrist flickIt is January and you are indoors
Tabletop (smallest)About 4.7 x 7.7 inSeated, wrist flickYou need a gift under ten dollars

Rows one and two are a different decision entirely and it has its own page: regulation vs tailgate cornhole size. If you are reading this page because cornhole will not fit your yard, that is the page you want. Rows three and four are what this page ranks.

A better option

If the recipient is a child

A mini set looks like the child-friendly choice and usually is not: a wrist-flick desk game holds a six-year-old for about ten minutes. What actually works is a real board at a reduced size and a shortened pitch, which is covered in kids cornhole sets. And if you are buying for somebody else's home without knowing what space they have, the constraint-first approach is in yard games as gifts.

The only mini set here that publishes its board dimensions — 10.12 by 5.71 inches — with two wooden boards and the full eight bags, which is what separates a game from a desk ornament.

Skip this if

Skip this if you want cornhole rather than a version of it. A ten-inch board is about a twentieth of the regulation 48 by 24 inches; the throw is a flick, not a pitch.

What works

  • Publishes a board dimension, which nothing else in this category reliably does
  • Eight bags is the full complement — four a side, as in the real game
  • Wooden boards rather than printed card
  • Plays on a desk, a kitchen table or a coffee table

What does not

  • No published bag weight, so the bags may be too light to stay on the board
  • No published throw distance, so the setup is entirely your call
  • No brand behind it, which means no spec page to check

Skip this if more than two people are playing. A board this small is a one-on-one desk game, and the bags will be light enough that a draught moves them.

  • Publishes its board dimensions, which half this category does not
  • Under ten dollars
  • Small enough to live in a desk drawer

What does not

  • Does not publish how many bags are included
  • At under eight inches long the game is extremely short

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

What size are mini cornhole boards?
There is no standard, and the sets that publish a figure range from about 4.7 by 7.7 inches up to about 10.12 by 5.71 inches. For scale, the American Cornhole League regulation board is 48 by 24 inches. So a mini board is somewhere between a twentieth and a fifth of the regulation length, and half the sets on sale publish no dimension at all.
Is mini cornhole the same as tailgate cornhole?
No, and this is the distinction worth getting right. Tailgate cornhole is a reduced-size outdoor board, usually 36 by 24 inches, played standing up at a shortened pitch — it is real cornhole in a smaller yard. Mini or tabletop cornhole is a desk game thrown with the wrist. If your yard is short on space you want the tailgate size, not a mini set.
How many bags should a mini cornhole set include?
Eight, four a side, exactly as in the full game — that is what lets you play real cornhole scoring. Two of the picks here publish eight bags; one publishes no bag count at all, which is a genuine risk because a four-bag set cannot play a standard round.
Can you play real cornhole rules on a mini board?
The scoring, yes. Three points in the hole, one on the board, cancellation scoring between the two sides, first to 21 — none of that depends on board size. The pitch distance does: ACL publishes 27 feet front-edge to front-edge, which no table will give you, so the throw line is whatever you agree. Full scoring in cornhole rules.

Why you can check our work

We have not played these. Every figure above is copied from a manufacturer's published listing or a governing body's published rules, and named so you can verify it. Where a maker publishes nothing, the field is blank rather than filled in. How we pick explains the whole method, including what would change a recommendation.
